Historically, supermarkets have been one of the most energy-intensive types of commercial buildings. Significant energy is used to maintain chilled and frozen food in both product display cases and storage refrigerators. Furthermore, additional energy is required to heat a shop and provide running hot water. This means expensive energy costs for the business as well as a negative impact on the environment.

A new innovative technique, configured by Coolrite and installed in a number of leading supermarkets, provides a high spec solution to this problem. In essence, the Econotherm Total Heat Reclaim System harnesses the waste heat generated from the Refrigeration system and uses this to provide the shop with all of its hot water requirements as well as acting as the main heating system throughout the shop. In effect, the energy required for refrigeration will also heat the shop itself and the water. This results in a dramatic reduction in energy running costs.

A further incentive to the Econotherm Total Heat Reclaim System is the positive environmental effect. As the Econotherm Total Heat Reclaim System requires less energy to run and creates less CO2 emissions, the system is truly a GREEN system aimed at preserving our environment.

The system has an EER Rating of 5.4 to 1. This means that for every unit of electricity consumed, 5.4 kilowatts of heat is generated in return. In keeping with all of the large retail chains forward thinking policy to reduce energy consumption in Refrigeration systems, the Econotherm Total Heat Reclaim System is truly a comprehensive and efficient energy system.

While the technology behind the system is complex, the theory is quite simple…less energy consumption means less running costs and less impact of our environment. Put simply, its just makes good sense!
